Morden Colliery Regional Trail

The Morden Colliery Regional Trail follows a historic railway corridor once used to transport coal from the Morden Colliery in the early 1900s. Today, visitors can explore two developed sections of the trail: a short walk from Morden Colliery Historic Park to the Nanaimo River, or a scenic route between Cedar and Hemer Provincial Park that is popular with walkers, cyclists and equestrians. Plans are underway to connect these trail sections with a bridge over the Nanaimo River, with the long-term vision of extending the trail all the way to Boat Harbour along the original railway route. Learn more about plans for completing the trail.
